Rings by Melissa Manley
“The rings are all hand fabricated out of mostly 20ga sterling sheet. I make the shanks and bezels myself, though I order the frilly gallery wire to make some of the bezels. I first measure the bezel strip around the bead in question. I solder its seam shut just like a wedding band. Then I solder it down to a base that I have sawn out and textured. I love texture and even collect iron found objects to use as anvils. You can best see some of this yummy texture under the round carved bone ring. I teach these techniques through Cape Fear Community College and in workshops around the country, the next being in Houston in March. So many of your beads make wonderful fabricated jewelry and I love when one of my students makes a lovely piece using something from your shop!”

“I made this necklace with some gorgeous semiprecious beads I picked up at Caravan a couple weeks ago. The spirals and wraps are copper wire.”
